USA takes a downfall

“…I stepped on my gown and [the beads] made me slip. It was like I was on rollerblades.” -Miss USA Crystle Stewart

Crystle Stewart, the crowned representative of the United States of America, took a plunge on stage during the presentation of evening gowns on Monday, July 14 in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Like stocks on any given day, the chances of winning can rise or fall, and unfortunately Miss USA’s outstanding and graceful fall did not lend her the winning crown of Miss Universe. Instead a 22 year old model and design student, Miss Venezuala Dayana Mendoza was crowned Miss Universe by last year’s title holder Riyo Mori of Japan. The top five consisted of other fellow latinas;  20 year-old Taliana Vargas from Columbia stands as runner-up while Miss Dominca Republic, Mexico, and Russia round out the top.
Although Miss USA did not take home the title she’ll still get to stand near its gleaming light; Stewart will share an apartment with Miss Universe and Miss Teen USA in New York. She plans to continue as a motivational speaker.
Motivationally speaking, we just happened to find a clip of not only Stewart falling but last year’s Miss USA Rachel Smith falling as well. Hmm…is America starting a new tradition?
